Cant wait for the Jailbreak for version 2.0 iPhones and Touch. Don't plan on paying Apple for the appstore apps but there seems like theres gonna he a load of free native apps available even at launch and I really want the iTunes remote for iPhone and iTouch. I can see this thing being modded till doomsday with extra features once the core code gets out in the open. If the dev teams manage to get it to control the PS3 I'm gonna be sitting on my backside almost immobile for the next few weeks watching movies. Bring on Mobileme as well (who thought up that name anyway).

i honestly don't understand the point of unlocking these phones, how much cheaper is the plan you are looking at if you do this? in the U.S. you are pretty much getting screwed by all cell carriers, so you just have to pick which ever one offers what you want, and they all basically offer the same thing for the same price.

all the this carrier is better than that one talk, atleast in the U.S., is absolute nonsense.

I don't even own an iPhone or iPod Touch and I already have the Pandora App downloaded and ready to go, very excited about that one.

Amazed how many apps are already available.

Just grabbed Light, Remote and Talking French.
    All free app's !
I did notice that there were quite a few double up app's... ie there are about 3-4 "light" app's one is free the rest are about $1. Same goes with solitare, connect four, guitar tuning and plenty more.
The one app I really want (besides tomtom) is a program that can access my laptops iTunes library... this would negate the lack of iphone hdd space, and allow me to have all my music (80+ Gb) "on" my iphone !

yeah I could definitely see that functionality being a part of the remote app in the future for sure, giving you the ability to access your itunes library over any wifi or 3G network would be amazing.

Unfortunately if you live in places like Ireland with the only carrier being O2 with 1gb data limits on all iPhone 3g tariffs including the €115 per month 1gb option (yes my little American friends thats $182.50 per month for 1gb) with no visual voicemail there is really no point in signing on a contract for 18 months unless your either an idiot or loaded (oftentimes they coincide). I jailbroke and unlocked my iPhone as soon as I got it and I never looked back. Until today with the launch of the Appstore having an iPhone that wasn't jailbroken simply meant you were missing out on all the fun and genius of the dev community through installer. Having it unlocked over here simply means you don't have to stay with a carrier you are very unhappy with, just port your number and run off to another rip-off network. Its also handy if like many people I know you have multiple sim cards but can't afford/don't want to carry multiple iPhones.

Applications like Simplify Media Mobile available on installer.app have been able to stream music playlists from remote pcs for months on unlocked iPhones. Haven't tried it myself but some of my mates said they were happy with. As the 2.0 firmware is now unlocked and jailbroken you can use installer and appstore and have it all. Its going to be a very shiny iPhone weekend.

How terrible is that. You have to pay to upgrade your firmware to BUY more apps. I must admit that is a bit much. Thank god it's unlocked and should be able to be downloaded soon enough.

Edit sorry wrong thread lol.. Mod delete please.

I'm waiting for iPod Touch 2.0. I resisted getting the January Software Upgrade in defiance of the $20 price, but with the January Upgrade plus the access to App Store, I can't wait to purchase it!

Seems 7.7 is rather buggy. Last night it didn't want to work with my first-gen iPhone, and now it seems its servers have crashed. Hard.

Huzzah for my new iBrick 3G.
