I'm a placement agent, my contacts are my business. I've recently moved to a new company and don't have access to my previous' office's outlook. My mobile got ruined and all my contacts are on my address book on my macbook. I desperately need to move them to my nokia e51.
I tried iSync but it wouldn't work, I keep getting the message "no device found", then the bluetooth option comes up. I successefly sync the mobile and get a message that im ready to sync, then nothing. The same message comes up with the bt option.
I downloaded the plugin and followed each and every guide on the internet with no avail. I think I actually messed up the files in isync so let's keep that option out of the way. Any other free software/method that I can just move a couple hundred names and numbers from my mac to my mobile? Please help!
Sam? Anyone?
Edit: I don't have my installation disks neither! I need a downloadable, quick and simple program to move the contacts! Pleeeeease help! Need to get this done tonight.

iSync 3 does not like the E51 for some reason. If you have a OS X Tiger installation DVD, you could run install the iSync on that and then install the plugin from Nokia and sync with your E51.

any other suggestion? pleasE?

If you're really desperate and willing to take a risk, you could try this, which I just wrote up in a few seconds:
Download this: www.doc.ic.ac.uk/~bs105/Nokia-E51.phoneplugin.zip
Unzip, and put the resulting folder in: iSync.app/Contents/Plugins/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/Plugins
To get there, right click on iSync.app and select Show Package Contents.
Restart iSync and see if anything different happens when you try to sync with your E51.
If something does happen, you might want to backup your address book just in case.
I just wrote that in a few seconds, so it's more likely that nothing will happen. -
nothing happened, why can;t i just send via bt! dam u steve!

is it possible to sync it with a windows program?
maybe run vmware fusion and sync it that way?
i sync my palm pilot in this fashion thanks to the archaic software I need to use to transmit data (runs in xp only) -

sure fire solution is kind of expensive, but will immediately resolve the problem:
buy an iphone? -
Nothing is working, I even tried syncing to a compatible phone (which was listed in the guide) that doesn't even need a plugin. Anyway I can re install isync? I think I messed it up!

I miss my thinkpad!

Sam, where art thou?
-
To reset iSync you should go to ~/Library/Preferences and remove com.apple.isync.plist
-
-
Just remove that file and restart iSync. In the worst case you could always restore it from Trash?
-
The file doesnt exist on my mac. There are a bunch of "com.apple.xxxxxx" files but nothing that says isync.
-
Are you certain you are in ~/Library/Preferences (Home folder), and not /Library/Preferences?
Do you have a folder in ~/Library/ called Phones and PhonePlugins? You might want to try removing those as well.
It is rather strange that you cannot even sync with a compatible device. -
I just copied 145 contacts to my mobile, manually! I left out 100 which weren't as important and/or I already know off by heart. My thumbs are soar. This might actually be the end of my relationship to mac...
for now
Thank you all for trying to help me, especially budding +1
Case dismissed. -
is it too late to suggest switching to an iphone as a previous member mentioned?
iSync terror, desperate as ever!
