What if one were to buy a mac but doesn't want either? I.e. I already have an iPod and a printer...would the only option be to pick up each and then sell on Ebay?

Either sell it on ebay, here on the forums, or to your friends.

You can give them away too. An iPod nano makes a great gift. Printers not so much, but still decent :p

Could be missing something, but you don't actually have to accept the the offer. I used the university discount and just clicked the 'i don't want one' button. I didn't need it and am not a fan of mail in rebates.

Agreed. You aren't required to purchase an iPod and a printer. Those are only extra options if you want one and willing to wait for the mail in rebates. I, personally, will be getting an iPod Nano and giving it as a gift.

right but if it's "free"...then it makes sense to take it no matter what and do something with it (gift, ebay, paperweight, lol)

You mind as well get the items if you can afford to purchase them at the time of ordering. As long as your mail-in rebate doesn't get screwed up, you will be making a $200+ profit off the IPOD if you sell it.

Yes, but remember you get them free with a mail in rebate, so you will still have to pay quite a bit for taxes...if you got the maximum rebate on the ipod ($270) and the printer ($170) you will still end up paying about $60 worth of tax (according to the Apple canada website, and my provinces' taxes of 13.5%)
