"Clickwheel" iPods are no longer hot products. Almost everyone who wanted an iPod has one. Apple's probably discontinuing non-touch screen iPods in September.

I cant see them doing that, their are a lot of people that prefer the larger capacity over the touch screen.

Guess it depends what you consider a large capacity, the best touch right now only holds 32 GB.

Actually that's not true. There's a lot of people out there who collect older iPods. There will always be a market for them, and if Apple switches over to touch screens only, then I believe there will be even more demand for them. Not everyone likes touchscreens.

I have to agree with dkwhite here. I mean, the aesthetic qualities si what the touchscreen has...that is all it is (like the iPhone)...and that is what they buy it for. However, there are tons of people out there who would still rather have the click wheel. Also, you have to look at parents who may not want to buy a touchscreen for their 10 year old to break in about five minutes. So unless people completely stop buying them...I don't think Apple is going to get rid of them.

I think it's amazing that children around 13 or so now carry around hundreds of dollars worth of electronics in their pocket.

So true man...it is insane. However, think about it, it is only going to get worse. I mean...I see kids walking around with like Blackberry's that are in middle school. (sorry to go off topic)

I'm still considering getting a 160gb ipod. I prefer to use my 80gb 5.5G iPod over my iPhone as my mp3 player of choice. If you carry your mp3 player in your pocket and listen to tunes walking down the road I challenge you to change tracks accurately without taking your iPhone or Touch out of your pocket (without jailbreak apps). If your touchscreen is facing outwards in your pocket they are far more vulnerable to serious damage compared to a traditional iPod. It doesn't matter if flash memory is more resilient to shocks than HDD's if your screen is smashed into a hundred pieces. I also find my iPhones audio quality cannot in any way even come close to my 5.5G iPod. I really hope in september they drop the price, not the product.

That is the future, my friend. Everything is going to be electronic. It will even become a necessity for kids.

I certainly wouldn't want a big ipod touch while riding on the motorcycle. I doubt that is all apple is planning on making in the future.

Old models get price cuts. That's common sense.

The iPhone/iPod touch screen is really tough. It seems tougher than the 1.8" hard drives. Most hard drive iPods fail after a year or two because the hard drive head crashes or the battery life plummets to 10 minutes.
