    I am a Mac newbie.

This program is great for the most part.
However, I want to convert some of the photos or
    mess with them in photoshop.
But photoshop can not open a photo that is in iPhoto.
Furthermore, I can not access the actual photo files in
finder without a a goofy workaround.
Is there any way I can get photo files in iPhoto
    to show up in finder?
So I can click in drag them into a different folder, or a convert program
    or Photoshop?

Right click on the photo and "Show File" will bring you up to the Finder window.

OR if you open up the Pictures File, and then iPhoto Library, and Originals, all of them should be there. :)

Yeaps, just select the photo you want, and right click and press "Show File", and it will give you the file where it is in Finder :).

that won't quite work with iphoto 08, they made the iphoto library a package, so to get into it you have to right click and say view package contents, then you can browse to the originals folder.

There is an easier way. Open preferences for iphoto, in the general tab locate the "edit in" pull down menu. choose application, then locate photoshop and choose it as your default editor. Now when ever you want to edit a photo, photoshop will open automatically.
The other way is to simply drag the photo from iphoto and drop it on the photoshop icon.
    good luck
