The fact of the matter is that it really needs 3G and GPS for it to really be a smart phone. That and a much decent price for the features.

3G and GPS (isn't there already a limited map based GPS program?) will most likely be comming in the near future. To be honest the Iphone is all that it's hyped up to be and more. My dad has a Palm Treo and I have several friends with various 'smartphones' and there really isn't any comparison to the Iphone. Sure, they might have a couple more features but what the Iphone can do, it does exceedingly well.

At least everyone has the ablity to get an iPhone. Sure, iPhone for Canadian's were announced on MacWorld day (no, not at the actually MacWorld, but on Breakfast Television), but we've still had no word on it.

Sure, we can go down to the US and get one, and bring it back, but than there's taxes and unlocking, ect. That's a huge hassle. I'd loove to get one once it's in Canada though...

and yes, there is a new GPS program on the iPhone - announced at MacWorld, it's a free update for iPhone users. :)

Well, it's not *real* GPS. It uses locations of registered phone towers and hotspots in range to figure out where you are through triangulation. It's inaccurate compared to real GPS. Also if you don't have either of those things in range... you're screwed. Just hope you don't get lost in the woods and need an actual GPS system, lmao, because the iPhone won't help you there.

One other thing the iphone needs is the ability to act as a bluetooth tether.

Considering its only one model, locked down to AT&T and the other carriers elsewhere, and being introduced brand new as a first generation product, its quite amazing how much market share its claiming :p.

I don't know if it'll ever beat RIM though. RIM does a good job, and it has a loyal following.

I would get rid of my Blackberry for an iPhone if not for the early termination fee

As cool as the iPhones are its not worth $399+$200 termination fee
