Its a canned video made for marketing only. Until the product is shipped and in users hands, we'll know then.

Not always true. Depending on what it is, it is usually a recorded output from the actual device.

Has Apple actually said it doesn't have flash? Or was it just people using it for a excuse to hate on it? Maybe the site NYT site is a beta that uses HTML5. Witch may be more likely. If the iPad has flash or not, I still hate flash and want it to die

This is a really good point, and not sure anyone at 9to5Mac may have considered.

    I agree, Flash must die!

NYTimes worked with Apple on the site for the launch. From Engadget comes this screenshot:

Showing a lack of flash content on the regular NYTimes site.

Word of advice.....no one should aspire to be the "I told you so" person because they aren't the most popular, even if they're right (which in this case, still needs to be proven).

There's nothing concrete either way so until something firm comes out, it's pure speculation.

Also, while the device is not available, the SDK is, and it does not run flash. The NY Times demo'd an app at the unveiling, not their site in the iPad's browser, so they had time to work around the Flash content on their regular site. Not surprising, since they are moving towards paid content and having their own app would allow for a subscription model.

    From the Link in OP:

"Update: We've just got word from our source at Chiat/Day Media Arts Lab that they make fake optimized web pages for all of Apple's commercials -- which load faster. In this case they made optimized images to take the place of Flash and are redoing them as we speak. So probably no Flash."

Heh. No speculation needed. You can just ask Adobe.

"Why, is there a Flash plug-in for the iPhone OS?"

"No. Flash is not currently available on the iPhone OS."

"But but but, It is just speculation!!"

    "What??"

People People. Anyone here ever been on a commercial photo set? The things they can do..........

For example, for my marketing class, I watched them make this ice cream picture. Surprisingly, people were like GASP "You don't use real ice cream in the photos!!!!????"

I just hid. There was going to be no way I would be associated with those classmates.

That's what questioned me when I first saw Steve scrolling down the site. All I notice is the missing plugin... my first guess... no flash? I'm pretty sure everyone thought of it. We're not blind and we are all pretty much savvy about it.
