hello, you may have read my other thread about hooking up my iMac to my tv so now i need to get Audio to my tv. well i think you need to place th cord in one of the 3 slots (the red white and yellow holes) i need to know which one. also im not sure cable i need to be using or where to find it. I will probably need to buy it from the internet because the cable is gonna have to be around 40ft, so if anyone could give me a link to a cable that would be VERY appreciated, Thanks :)

I briefly read your other thread.

Do you have an entertainment system (speakers) around or near this TV?
One option is to acquire a Toslink cable, one with the jack that fits your audio out. The audio out should be a dual optical and audio jack, just have to change it in the preferences.

Second is to get a splitter from the audio jack to the (L) and (R) audio ports in the back of the tv.

Last is a slightly more expensive route than either of the above. There is a cable out there that combines your audio and hdmi into one hdmi plug. I can't seem to remember that cable. It's a bit new and not made by Apple but is geared for Apple users. Google mac audio and hdmi keywords.

    I have one of these...
Mini Displayport Male and USB Male Audio to HDMI Female Converting Adapter for Macbook
I bought for an older Macbook pro that didn't have audio out of the HDMI... it works great, even on newer ones as well. Just plug it in the Mini-DP, the USB, and plug HDMI into the TV. Set the sound device in your System preferences to the USB sound device, and it all works great.
