    Is it possible to upgrade the hard drive on the iMac?

    yes, but you need to open up your computer. it is quite a complex task it seems.

    im not sure if changing ur harddrive void your warranty.. however; it wont void your warranty if you dont cause any damage that lead to a fault, if you change back to the original harddrive and hasnt leave any evidence then they wont know a thing.

    Agreed. Not advisable to go fiddling about with the insides of Macs, unless they're Mac Pros, of course.

    It's a desktop, so you're probably not moving about too much, so why not buy a FireWire 800 external hard drive? In my experience the WD My Studio 500GB / 1TB FireWire drive has worked well for adding to my iMac's storage capacity.
