I just bought a Macbook Pro (8 days ago) with iLife 2008 on it. I contacted Apple and they said an email with a link to download the update file would be sent. Anyone have similar experiences regarding updates ?

I heard from Apple that Apple that anybody who bought it on January 6 and after pay a $10 upgrade fee and anyone who bought a Mac before that has to pay the full upgrade price. That's what Apple says on their site, too:

I'm really not sure that anyone reps know what Apple is going to do, though it's like what the link says. I really wish that they'd give us iLife 09 free, iMovie looks much better and the new iPhoto and GarageBand look like pretty good updates, too. -

Oh, well. I received it a week before that cutoff. It won't hurt to ask. I didn't get a name. C-r-a-a-a-a-a-p!

It says check back Jan. 12th, I wonder if it will be released then?

I probably wouldn't buy the upgrade, i'm happy as it is right now.

Wonder if you are right --- The big reason I'd like to upgrade is for "iPhoto" --- some really good new stuff that I can use for basic field business presentations with "Slideshow".
Some big questions though ---
1. When will Snow Leopard release ?? I know, nobody knows yet but it would be nice to buy this as a multi-pac with "Snow Leopard".
2. Since I don't know how long it will take to release the new OS, I may not wait past iLife release at the end of the month ----
What a SAP I am for new stuff !!! -
Well I purchased a new MBP Jan 22, 2009. And surprise surprise, Apple made me pay for the Update. $13 dollars canadian.
