    Should I sell or save it? I haven't got the system yet by the way.

    Personally, I would keep it just in case you have to send it back for repairs...wouldn't want to lose additional money spent. If that sort of thing doesn't bother you and you have no other use for it, then yeah...you could sell it.

    they really shouldn't make an issue out of different RAM being installed unless infact the RAM that you have installed itself goes bad, use the new RAM you have for atleast a month before you decide to sell the original 2gb, just to make sure your new RAM is functionally correctly and has no issues.

    circa86....your correct that they shouldn't give you any hassle for upgraded ram, its just that i've heard plenty of stories of people sending back their self-upgraded laptops and getting them back with stock parts cuz the repair techs got overzealous and just swapped everything for new parts :err:

    I know when I sent my Averatec back for a faulty power input I ended up with a new wifi and ram along with the new mobo. Neither was upgraded, but my wifi had a new MAC address that i had to revise my router to accept and I noticed the ram was made by a different manufacturer.

    Hrm, Apple tends to use pretty mainstream and decent RAM suppliers though don't they? I wouldn't mind too much if they replaced my SuperTalent RAM for some Crucial RAM or something (even if they're both Micron chips :p)

    Yeah, but you'd mind if they replaced your 4GB of SuperTalent with 2GB of Crucial.... :)

    Thanks taelrak;

    In regards to the original question, I guess it depends on how much you could get for it. If you can sell it for enough (maybe to a MacBook owner that wants to upgrade to 2GB of RAM), it might be worth it.

    But otherwise, it doesn't hurt to have the extra RAM lying around, at least until you're pretty confident in the new RAM you purchase. The last thing you want to have happen is have your RAM fail on you at a critical time and then not have maybe your old spare RAM to put in until you can get your other RAM replaced.
