hello, I really like the macs and I have left out of the race the dv2000t because HP does not offer global warranty with it and it is a MUST for me.

My dad tells me to buy de white macbook (non refurb), and I really like the black and in order to not exceed my money limit I was looking a refurb one.

I would buy with it a 3 year global warranty (249 more dollars), should I listen to my dad or take the risk of getting a refurbished one?

    Thanks

A lot of people love Mac refurbs. It's a good buy. Same warranty as a normal unit. I don't think that a lot of the units are from broken units. Probably a lot of them are units that people wanted to return because they don't like them.
then again, that could be completely wrong.
BUt yeah, a lot of people ONLY buy mac refurbs because they haven't had any problems with them. I would trust them. The only reason I didn't get a refurb is because you don't get student discounts on refurbs (lol, too bad).

thanks for the answer, plus, if I pay the 3 year global warranty I should be well covered right?

Yup. keep in mind it doesn't cover accidental damage.

Which Gateway doesn't believe they need to cover, even if you pay for it. Cause they like to say it was intentional damage, not accidental. Jackasses...

I would not worry about a refurb, many people only buy refurb from Apple. Also, you can get a great deal on a black CoreDuo right now.

We don't have refurbs here in Ireland, but from what I've heard of them Apple tests them so they certainly shouldn't be faulty units. And, as stated above, you have a full warranty and you can extend it to three years. They seem like a good deal to me. :)

I've been looking at the new Macbook (2.0Ghz, C2D, 80GB, 1 GB) vs a refurbished Macbook (2.0Ghz, CD, 60GB, 512MB). Price difference is alittle over $300. Any suggestions?

$300 is worth the extra memory, hard disk space, core 2 duo and the fact that it's new. My $.02

Thanks koryo. I've been leaning towards new since the reviews for the previous Macbooks complain about the Magsafe heat issue.

I'm most likely going to purchase from Amazon cause I'll say about $67 AR vs Apple.com with student discount. Anyone NOT recommend buying it from Amazon?
