it has very little to do with the size of the screen

A 14'' Mbp option would be nice though. :D

nope there are i7's in 13" models
I think there are some i5's in smaller yet

but if you mean in the MBP's then yes you can only get the i5 in the 15 and 17" models currenty

An i3 or i5 would easily fit in the current 13" MBP. It is just that Apple doesn't want to use the Intel HD Graphics. They want to have better graphics performance.

They would do the auto switching graphics but that requires more space.

In reality the M11x is not that much smaller. The MBP 13" is wider but the M11x is much thicker. The lack an internal optical disk in the M11x is more likely why they managed to get this in.

14inch Macbook/Pro? Seems pretty pointless. Also the m11x is like 2inchs thick.

i asked an apple expert and he said that the i cores are big battery drainers compared to the core 2 duos, and apple doesnt want to give up the 8 hr battery life. :)

Don't they have larger batteries? The 13' is rated 63.5 wh while the 15" is 77.5 wh and the 17" is 95 wh.

the extra drain on the 17" is the screens. larger LCD's and backlighting even if it is LED backlight is still a larger drain on a system then anything. look what happens when you turn up your brightness to 100% vs minimum

i core CPU's dont use any more power and in many cases use less
