i am thinking baout getting a powerbook because my old laptop has just about had it, i use my laptop for checking my email mostly and surfing the web. although i cant stand the web based email and i have used outlook express/outlook for office to check my hotmail. at the mooment i am using the later and i love in fact its so in tune with the rest of office and i can type a new email straight from word. one of the main reason i am not sure about the mac is how will i check my email, without going to hotmail.com, does anyone know wether microsoft entourage works with hotmail? (if it helps i am one of those people where my account is aloud to be used in outlook and outlook express without being a hotmail plus member)also would the mac osx 'mail' program be able to access hotmail?

    thanks

With the Office suite for Mac, you will get a program called Entourage (the Mac version of Outlook). It works just as well, if not better than Outlook does and integrates very nicely into rest of Office....oh...and it works fine with Hotmail.

Or you can just use the Mail program that comes with the computer. It works fine with Hotmail (Im currently using it for Earthlink though). I actually like it better than outlook, which I use on my computer at work.

thanks, i was pondering that idea but on the apple web site it says

Mail works with the following account types: POP, IMAP, .Mac, and Exchange (only if configured as an IMAP server). You can't log in directly to Hotmail, AOL, or any service that does not support POP or IMAP access, and retrieve email using Mail.

    here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mail/2.0/en/ml1050.html

dont worry i'll take your word for it, anyway if i do get a mac i would get the office for mac ir virtual pc 7 as i have office 2003

    thanks

hi, i've recently aquired an ibook g4 and can't access hotmail using either safari(1.3) or internet explorer(5.2.3). i've read on the internet about using 'Mail' that comes with the computer to access my hotmail but not really in with the understanding of it all. can someone spell it out for me. thanks.
