I just bought a router and hooked it up....tried to get on it with my macbook and every time I type in my password and hit connect the screen goes dark and a message pops up: Please restart your computer using the power button or the restart button. I hold the power button down a few seconds to turn off the computer, then reboot, but the same thing keeps happening.

Has anyone ever heard of this and what is going on?? Thanks

The error message was come to find out a kernel panic, yes first time mac user. After spending at least 2 hours on the phone with support, nice guy, we still were not able to fix the problem. It is a compatibility issue between the macbook and the new D-Link DIR-655.

Potential Buyers Beware - you will probably have the same problem!

I'm returning my router to get the Airport. Shoulda went with that one in the beginning. I'm sure the D-Link is good, just not good for Macbook.

I may not have a firm grasp on what you are asking.

No, I tried to run the system hardware test but couldn't find it, only a 2 page pdf read me first file.

I have been able to connect to two other wireless networks, so I'm inclined to think the operating system is ok.

Bravo. I'm currently typing this response using the d-link wireless network. Thanks for the tip. I just got the computer I never thought to check for an update. Thanks again.
