My MBP just shot up to 90 degrees C and I am only running Safari...?

It won't go down unless I turn it off or rev up the fans.

    Whats going on?

I'd say clean out the fans, because there could be some dust in there clogging it up, therefore not allowing the air to circulate properly.

yeah it probably is dust in there. i bet you would be surprised how much dust will get up in there i was surprised when i opened my computer the first time. just cause it looks ok on the outside doesn't mean it's all pretty on the inside
use this guide to help clean it out

the computer doesnt shoot up to 90c instantaneously because of a little dust.

Makes sense on both sides. 90C is ridiculously high for using just safari regardless of dust. Unless he uses his computer solely in a wood cutting area where heaps of dust floats about, there's no reason he'd accumulate THAT much dust to totally block all ventilation.

What kind of surface were you using the mac on? And were you on a flash heavy site? I know flash can push up the cpu usage, but usually not to 90c

It was just on a hard top table.

The site I was using was a site where I can watch TV shows and there is a lot of buffering. But it has never ever shot up that high before. It's fine right now but if it happens again I'm going to call.

flash usually gets the temps right up, but 90 is an excess. i agree with you when you say you need to call apple.

those websites usually bring the temperature up to around 70-75 C, at least in my mbp, especially if you are watching in full screen.
