hey guys, i just receieved my macbook unibdoy. it's great!
however though, out of the four corners on the bottom of the notebook, one of the corners are bent and the battery door is sticking out little bit...

also one of the corners of the screen are bent, downwards, i had to look around to see the actual damage. i called in apple (lol even though my applecare phone support was gone, they helped me, thats cool) all in all, the rep said she can send me a box thru fedex, and i'll basically get a brand new one.

do you think i should send it in, or just screw it and keep what i have?
did anyone here have experience with apple support? like repairing i mean.

I'm a bit confused. Where did you just receive your Macbook from? You mentioned you're past the 90 days for phone support - which doesn't make sense. I don't believe Apple will agree to exchange your laptop after 14 days of ownership.

    k. i bought it from ebay, the 90 day support for the phone was over, but i still have 225 days of applecare left. however in the apple website if u say that u have hardware problem it lets u connect with an apple expert.

shes basicalyl sending me a box so i can send it back in and i receive a factory refurbished/new one. (idk which one but w/e theyr same to me)

Really? Hm. Was the damage mentioned in the eBay listing? Did you explain to the representative that you were past the 14 days exchange period, and the laptop was bought used? If you can pull it off, props to you but I think they might end up sending your old one back to you + charge you for shipping. It's not Apple's obligation cover cosmetic damage caused by the user.

no it wasn't mentioned because it was not noticable.
the apple rep CLEARLY knew that my phone service was over and my warranty was still in effect for 225 days, and plus she had my serial number so she knew the warranty info.

Why would they charge ME for shipping if they agreed to service the laptop in the first place, did this hpapen to you or anyone you know. I clearly told the rep that it had bends on the corner. a lot of people are having bends etc from everyday use and all of the topics ive seen they got it taken care of.

Warranty and insurance is not the same thing.... you bought it used, and damage cause by the previous owner is not covered by warranty.

my point is, unless you fall through some little crack and get really lucky, they'll look at you laptop when you send it in and say "not covered under warranty" and tell you what they'll charge you to fix it.

I agree that that will probably happen where they won't fix it but it is worth a shot. I know Lenovo doesn't charge for shipping if it isn't covered under warrenty and decided you don't want it fixed. Not sure on Apple though.

If you send it in with the skin , you might not get it back, so don't do it.

well, i meant like; should i apply the skin and not send it? or should i not apply it, send it then wait then apply it.

i rahter not lose $10-30 or whatever they are charging if they refuse warranty.

i just called again, the rep said it depends on the actual person who's looking at it if it's accidental or if it's cosmetic defect that a lot of people are having and I can get risked $10-20 for shipping sighh...
best place to go is an apple store for a free diagnostic and i can dispute it there, and they can put an override code attatched in the repair number and they'll do it regardless...

i guess apple store for me then (its lik 30 mins away tho XD)

Well I dont think the Apple Store will give him a free pass. If they decide that it is their issue then it is. I dont think Apple is that nice to fix something that they are not obligated to fix. For a dent I highly doubt Apple will bend over backwards for it.

Well the op did mention he had a loose battery cover and that is a manufacture defect so while getting that fixed they might fix the other issue for you. I myself had a battery cover on my 15" MBP that I brought in and had replaced at the Apple Store
