How do I tell which kind of network I am connected to with my Macbook--g or n? Is there somewhere I can find that information?

    Thanks.

EDIT - Oh, and if I am on an n network, how do I know if I'm connected at 2.4ghz or 5ghz?

well, for G vs N, you could just look in the network tab in activity manager. What connection speed does it report? And as for 2.4ghz vs 5ghz, could you find that information in the router's config page? My dlink router certainly tells me

well that is determine simply by the router you are connected to.

if it is an Apple router, just use the Airport Utility on your Mac.

if it isn't your router, and not your network, don't worry about it, you shouldn't be messing with it anyway.

you can also use the included Network Utility to get a plethora of information.

you can hold the "option" key on your keyboard and then click on the wireless icon on your menu bar. This will give you detailed information concerning your wireless connection. The maximum "Transmit Rate" for 802.11G is 54 mbps. 802.11n on the 2.4ghz band will reach "Transmit Rate" of up to 130 mbps and the 5ghz band will deliver faster rates.
