The HDD in my MB crashed (first gen Intel MB).

Fortunately I had my Dell Inspiron 700m shell still around (Pentium M but surprisingly runs Windoze XP quite spiffy & is light like current crop of netbooks) so I restored data from XP backup - I was using XP through Fusion a lot. I also have a SuperDuper backup to restore the OSX Tiger image when the new HDD arrives.

Since I don't know much about HPFP I thought I'll take the opportunity to learn with the crashed HDD if it turns out that the crash was not mechanical. So are there any freeware tools, hopefully in some LiveCD distro, that I can use to play around with the crashed HDD?

    Thank you.
