ok all, do you think the 3 year warranty is worth the almost 300 extra ?

I figure all the small problems will get fixed in the first year then after that it is more of a matter of me breaking it by mistake. which I don't think I will do ( umm I have some reallllly old laptops that still work fine for the most part ) however it is a 2500$ investment.

now does there 3 year warranty cover accidental damage like dropping it and stuff or only hardware failures.

and on the hd, all my prior old laptops have had 4200 - 5400 rpm drives, I like to game a lot and plan to do this. will a 7200 affect anything but load time for games, like I know some games ( most notably mmorpg's ) access the hdd all the time to load additional textures. and in cases of low ram even some regular games do this, but I figure with 2 gigs it will be just fine. but wanted to check anyways.

    Thanks

It only covers hardware failures, not accidental damage. I'd say it's worth it, but it's your call.

Remember it also includes phone support for those 3 years.

well phone support no big deal to me, I rate my self pretty high on computer knowledge so don't really mind, however are you sure on the no accidental coverage. that is pretty much the only reason I would get the extra support at almost $305 extra it is a real deal stopper for me, at 2299 ( with military discount ) it comes out to $2604

now the education discount is the same base price but I only spend 238 on the 3 year. does any one know what is required to be eligible for the student discount ?

Well, I'll confirm it then ;). AppleCare doesn't cover accidental damage and natural wear-and-tear.

You need to be enrolled in a higher-education institution or be teaching K-12 and you need proof to be eligible for Student Discount. A Student ID will work.

Yes, 100% certain. Accidental damage is not covered.
