    Hey guys,

just wanted to know if there is any way to enable read and write privileges in both OSX and windows for an external Hard drive used in both OSs? I've tried the fat32 option, however it wont allow me to transfer files over 4gb to the external HD. Is there a workaround solution for this (excluding the NTFS-3g option in MAC)?

Use NTFS on the drive and then install NTFS-3G from Tuxera.com on the Mac.

NTFS-3G will permit OS X to read and WRITE to the NTFS formatted drive.

EDIT: Tuxera no longer permits downloading of the freeware version NTFS-3G from their site. They have apparently integrated NTFS-3G with their paid product (formerly Tuxera NTFS), now "Tuxera NTFS for Mac" version 10.2.

You can still get the "old" (same version 10.2) freeware version from the Apple download site, but for how long is unknown.

Alternatively, I'm using Paragon NTFS and it works like a charm with our 750GB Seagate FreeAgent Go. Paragon NTFS is also a paid app, however.

It was worth the purchase for me, since I'm still trying to move my wife over to macs and have to play nice with her PC laptop. :)
