We probably won't see Merom in the MB for a long while. There is some difference in performance, depending on what you're doing. Some apps have 20% increase, others have no increase. it will run hotter, as the TDP is higher, but as to how much of a difference the higher TDP will make... not sure.

Uh, not sure on that, but I'd imagine the Apple store could do some of the ugprades, especially the ram upgrades on the MB. But really, it's an easy DIY upgrade and you'll save some money ordering the ram and doing it yourself.
Are you going with 1 or 2 gigs? I doubt you would need more than 1.

well, for OS X... not really sure.
Dont' really need anti virus and well, firewall should be done through your router, not software.
Hrm, yeah, upgrading to 1 gig for $100 is a good price.

Thats because you become evangilized (enlightened) to the mac world.

My favorite thing is when people watch me on my MB at school and see either expose or something they go "WOW" and when I show how simple something is they express that it seems so much easier and less hassle than XP.

Whenever I hear the Windows startup sound at school, I just shudder.

So true! I hate having to use my Windows machine. It is just a pain. Even Vista was a pain, but for other reasons.
