    hey guys,

I bought a hp dv6563cl a few weeks ago...and a couple blue screens later I'm getting very mad! I fixed that problem but one that refuses to go away is the high pitched "whining" noise coming from the CPU (+the fact that I am very sensitive to noise). Luckily I bought this from Costco, so I'm returning it tomorrow. Has anybody had any problems with high pitched noises coming from their MBP (I heard there was and then there was a fix by Apple?) ? I want to buy the $1999 base model. Thanks.

Slap some sense into it and tell it to stop whining and take it like a man.

No, the MBP no longer whines (or it shouldn't). The fans hum when they get up really high, but that's the same for all laptops.

well a processor is a processor, and its not like they have some soundproof casing or something to put it in. but no i dont think anybody has had problems with a whine on their MBP.

I had an HP 9000t earlier this year, and it had that horrible high-pitched whine. Our MBP (which replaced the HP) is very quiet and has no whine.

i don't notice any annoying noise from my mbp. the new ones released in june of this year probably took that problem out.

I don't notice any whine. My MacBook is extremely quiet, I can barely hear the fans.

I rarely hear whines even when checking out the different notebooks at Future Shop (Canada's version of Best Buy).

After I hit my MBP repeatedly, it started whine and then cried for a few hours. And after I left it alone, it went to sleep. :D
