A normal Macbook would do the job just fine. The big difference between the two is a larger screen and the dedicated graphics card, neither of which are vital for music editing.

Just get the better processor when you order it. Then afterwards upgrade to 4GB of ram and a 7200 rpm hard drive.

Do you need a MacBook Pro? No. Would you probably prefer a MacBook Pro? Yes :p.

The MBP has a larger screen and higher resolution, so you may prefer using a MBP, but the MacBook works fine as well.

Programs like Logic Studio and Logic Express will work fine on the MacBook.

Why don't you tell us what your basic computing habits/needs are so that we can better recommend a computer for you?

i use my desktop for everything else, i would use it only for web browsing when not home (wireless) and mixing music, using some pro programs.
