This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    so my understanding is that if i join for $100, i have the opportunity to purchase an MBP for ~$500 off. can anyone attest to this? also, is this valid with refurbed models?

    As long as nothing has changed, the cheapest membership is $100, and I believe you have to be a student to get that. Here is Apple's page:

    Refurbs are not qualified. I recently purchased mine through ADC for grand total of 1911.86 shipped including LA tax. I have it in one of my earlier posts.
