its between this Cavalry drive, and this mybook. i was wondering if any of you have heard anything about the cavalry one and how good it is. i would prefer the mybook because i've heard some good things about it and i was set to buy it but then i saw the other one and noticed that it was firewire which is a plus.

I have never heard of Cavalry, so I don't want to recommend it. Leaving me with one to choose from, the MyBook will be a good choice especially the Firewire connection due to the limitation of USB ports.

I have heard of the Cavalry drive and the mybook, I do not suggest the Cavalry drive, because they usually have really poor quality management. The Cavalry drive my friend bought did not even work when we first tried it, but once we had opened up the case pushed the drive back into the connectors that they fell out of and tightened the screws, which was the real source of the problem, it ran fine. The mybook on the other hand is great, my brother owns one and it runs perfectly, it is a little bulky though. Also, just so you know the cavalry drive does usually use a quality hard drive like Western Digital and some times it cost less than a regular hard drive. So to some it up, if you want a drive that will cost little, but may have some bugs with it, then go with the Cavalry; other wise go with the mybook. Also, there are many other good brands out there besides these two.

I personally have a MyBook and it is great. It doesn't have a Firewire port but its good enough for backups and its generally good enough to store and play my music from. There is definitely some lag as the hd spools after some idle time, but im ok with that.
