I am looking to buy one of the new macbook pro 13" and since I am a university student I was wondering if you could get the discount if you bought at an apple store. Also, can you get the free (I know you need to send in for the rebate) ipod touch too? Or are both of these things online only?

conversely, does apple offer next day shipping?

Yep, but I think you have to provide proof that you're a student.

I think the rebate on the printer is only online. But the Ipod and education discount are available either in store or online.

Does this apply to Canada as well? My dad is a staff member and what sort of ID would he need?

All he would need is his School ID Card. Something with his name, picture, and school name on it.

So, what ID or proof would he have to show so we can do it in the store? Im not aware of an ID which has his name and work/ school place.

I thought you just had to provide an email address with a .edu extension, but I could be wrong. Otherwise a student ID should suffice.

Any proof is sufficient - Term Bill, Student email, student ID...

And whoever said that the printer rebate is online only is wrong. You can get the rebate for both the iPod and printer at the store.

Yeah, they're not that uptight about it. An email address would work!

Yeah I'm in the same boat, except my dad dosen't have a email lol.
I'm going to Uni in Beijing, so I doubt they would accept any credentials from there. I'll probably have my friend buy it for me.

I have read about people ordering online, and I think on the phone, simpy saying they go 'here' and getting the discount ect ect.

SO it may just be that easy.

Does this mean they instantly rebate you the ipod and printer? So no online applications ect. Becuase that would save a whole lot of hassle....

Edit: errr...sorry, just read this thread and had my question answered....boy do I feel stupid...sorry again!

I ordered online at the Apple.com store. Once that website opens on the left hand side there is an 'Educational Store'. From there I selected my college and that was it. No proof of anything was required. You do need to acknowledge that lying in order to gain this advantage is considered fraud so do make sure that you can back this up if they ask for proof later. Good luck.
