i may be buying an imac at bb tomorrow and was wondering whether they will give me black friday pricing on an imac if i ask the manager.

has anyone had any luck with this? ive heard people do this with tvs so perhaps i can get lucky and save a hundred bucks...

Yeah, can't hurt to try. If not though, I also came across another tactic when buying Macs at Best Buy. At the little table where they sit on display, there are little price cards in a Rolodex-type thing sitting on the table next to them. Flip through those price tags and you may find prices for open-box items. I got my 15" MacBook Pro (with 9600m GT, the one that sells new for $2000) for $1050. They even let me open it up in the store and check to make sure it was in good condition.

I would defiantly try for an open box one as long as you get to check it first and make sure everything is there and stuff.

If you don't have to buy at BestBuy, I would try to refurbished store on Apple's website. I got my MacBook through their refurbished store and it looks like new. I have followed alot of threads on here and haven't heard of a complaint about buying a refurbished Mac from Apple and a few have even reporting it coming with upgrades... Something to look into if you don't have to go with BestBuy.

yeh thing is i'm buying this for my parents as a gift and wouldnt really want to get them something that they perceive as used.

    thanks for the suggestions.

Well with the open box ones at Best Buy (at least the one I bought), everything was absolutely flawless- the guy there told me that a lot of people get them as gifts and then just return them cause they'd rather have the cash. I know that if you buy it refurbished from Apple it just comes in a plain box, but an open box deal from Best Buy is identical to what you'd get buying it new (mine even still had the little foam sheet between the screen and keyboard), except of course for the seal being broken on the box. :)

Are you talking about the Black Friday pricing or the open box price?
