a colleague of mine is interested to get an iMac with these specs:
    27"
    I7 3.4 quad core
    8GB RAM
    1TB HD
    magic mouse
    wireless keyboard

its pretty expensive in retailers here thus I usually buy my MBPs from eBay, but wanted to know if there are better/cheaper places to get the iMac from?

    Thanks

It would help if you told us where "here" is.

Another place to look would be MacMall, which I hear about pretty often. Usually a few dollars cheaper than Amazon/Apple.

If you're comfortable with eBay/PayPal and their practices, that would be an interesting place to look. Though personally, I have issues with PayPal demanding your bank account number (imo, it defeats the original purpose of PayPal: to shop safer online).

I'm shocked and appalled that I'm post number 5 and nobody has yet to say Apple Store "Refurbished" :) that's a great place to look, at least to glance. For those who do not know it's on the apple store website on the lower left hand corner... in fine print, small. And another I'll throw out there is microcenter. That's where I bought my macbook pro retina just 2 weeks ago :)

    Enjoy your new purchase :)

Well, I assumed that "Apple" would also mean to check out the Outlet too.

Depending on where the OP lives, ordering direct from Apple might not be an option, hence why I asked that question.
