    I worked at Apple store, but I just noticed many mac computers have 5.1 output. For instance, mac mini's headphone output, you can plug in a minijack to a receiver... have 5.1 sound :eek:

    *even macbook air can do that ;)

    Yeah, as can most PCs nowadays. Intel's integrated HD audio can support up to 8 channels at 192khz.

    I'm guessing that youre talking about the optical output?
