well as the title suggests, i cant get any sound to come out in bootcamp. Windows loads up completely silent. I think a file got corrupted or something. All the icons show up in windows, and it says sound is at the max. Anyone have any ideas that can help?

Last time I installed Windows in Bootcamp, after installing all drivers everything seemed ok, but no sound.
I resolved the issue by simply copying the RealtekHD driver from the Leopard DVD and manually installing it. Audio worked perfectly after that.

I don't know if that is what you mean by 'reloading the drivers', but it's always something to try if you haven't.

I meant that i reloaded all the bootcamp drivers and updated them according to what apple had available. And im assuming whne you copied the driver from the cd, you didnt run the setup, you browsed the files, found the one you wanted, and continued from there. So ill give that a go and see what i can do from there.

That's a very distracting avatar you've got there...

What was this about again? Oh yes, sound not working in BootCamp.

I have a similar issue with my black macbook with XP-

    I'll try reloading the drivers---

    Thanks.

This is a long shot, but it might just work:

Play a tune or something, a mp3 in Windows. Get a pair of headphones or something, plug them in your mac. Wait 5-10 seconds. Unplug them. See if you get sound back.

I remember having this issue at random when booting into Windows on my Macbook Pro.

The issue is that sound is routed either to the internal speakers or through the headphones jack by SOFTWARE. And when that screws up, you have to force it to recognize you've got a jack in there and then pull it out.

If that doesn't do it, I'm afraid something's wrong with your drivers. Maybe a full reinstall of Windows and bootcamp drivers would do the trick.

cdnalsi presents a good solution to try. I have this problem in Vista sporadically. Sometimes I will boot up Windows and it will be fine, sometimes it's not. A restart will usually take care of the problem and bring audio back.

Also try downloading the latest drivers from realtek and then install them.

Did you check in system prefs > sound > output to see where it's outputting it :|

    +1

The boot camp audio drivers are buggy on Vista as well. If I install the boot camp driver update, my audio jack lights up in red, indicating that it's using SPDIF/Digital output. The audio driver is working, but incorrectly outputing the wrong jack and not to my speakers.

ok guys i got it working pretty good now. I did the whole, manually install the audio drivers. Everything works great. However when I download the drivers that Apple has up on their site, it takes away everything but mouse function basically. My backlight keyboard, volume, remote doesn't work, etc. So im sticking with just the drivers I have on my disk now. But I have sound now so I'm pretty happy.

I know how to install the drivers, they just weren't working. I don't know. It was weird.
