How is your setup connected to your desktop at the moment? Optically? or with a bunch of 3.5mm connections?

If its optical, you can just plug right in, as macs have optical built in. If its the bunch of 3.5mm, you're outta luck. No direct way, short of finding a usb soundcard that outputs to that format.

Macs come standard with spdif. Plug it in and it should work fine.

You may need a different cable then what you have, mac laptops come with a 3.5mm spdif connection, not like the ones on PC mobos.
