Hi,
i have one doubt to ask.
SOme times when i open an application , i find that the top bar ( ie tool bar ) shows the name of the application that is clicked to open , but the window of the application does not come up and i dont know how to open that application. If that application is in my dock then i have double click on it for the window to come up.
is this some thing normal or am i doing something wrong.

Which applications are we talking about? How are you opening those applications? Where are those applications stored?

cheers ... -
Any way it seems to be sorted out after i have restarted my mac.
Another trouble i see is that if i open an application it dissappears from the dock . FOr eg: if i have mutiple windows of firefox and i open all of them , it disappears from the dock but comes back when i minimize each window. i know this is a feature of mac. Is there a way to make it work as in windows ??
Thanks for the replies guys !! -
You are supposed to use Expose, Apple's (far more superior) alternative to window management. Go to System Prefs>Expose to set it up.

thnks. i already did that

Now i am reprdouce the issue .
This is what happens.
when i use four finger to sweep rt to left and bring the task manager and i click on certain applications like ical or activity monitor, the window for the application does not come up but only the top bar which shows the apple icon, ical, file etc is visible. Now to bring the application to the front i have to click on the icon in the dock.
But if i click on icons for yahoo messenger or ichat, their windows come up.
Please help -
So:
-red button: hides the current window (doesn't close the application), also hides the app/window in the Apple-Tab command.
-Command-H - closes/hides the window (not the application) with the benefit of having the window in the fast windows switch mode (apple-tab)
-Command-Q - finally something to close apps.
-Plus button-another useless feature, it will resize the window to fit the current content; could be a nice feature, but it doesn't do any good at all when you open a website that is bigger than previous website; now you have to use the "+" button again to resize safari to current website; if the next website is bigger, click on the "+" again; and keep doing that all day long. Yeah .. I know.. I really miss the Maximize button in MS Win. If you guys have a keyboard shortcut for me to maximize the current window in Leopard please share it with me. I have one Air and one MBP and I love the laptops, not so much the missing features. -
You can do most of the things of the expose with various finger sweeps

Hiding on the other hand, hides windows (actually the whole program, if you have more then one window open in firefox, they will all hide), and you can get it back but apple+tabbing.
But basically, red button = permanent close of window, hide=hidden until you bring it back.
application display issue ???
