    hey everyone.
im about to take my macbook to the apple store to fix this clicking sound when my lid is opened from closed position and i had a question. ill be taking pictures of my macbook before taking it in. i was wondering if anyone had an experience of taking in their laptop in and getting it back with scratches that werent there before. what do you do if this happens? thanks for your input.

Normally the people at the Apple Store (and in Apple's repair centers) are very careful. When I've taken a machine into the Apple Store, they laid the MacBook out on a microfiber cloth, etc. so scratches would be unlikely.

If they did scratch up your MB, you would probably need to complain to them and have them do something about it. But they don't normally do that kind of thing.

Just a few weeks ago my MB went in for repair of a non-working screen. When returned, the lid wasn't just scratched, it was deeply gouged over the entire surface. When I noticed the damage and showed it to the store manager, she immediately had it sent back a second time . . . for a new lid. When returned the second time a few days later, the machine was immaculate once again.

Taking pictures of your MB before repair is a good idea, though what happened to my machine, I'm sure, is an isolated incident. Aside from this particular instance, my own experience with Apple/Macs has been very good.

oh sure, bmwrob ... you expect us to believe you didn't scratch that lid yourself??

(j/k, of course). Recently sent my MacBook in for palm rest replacement ... came back looking like new.

Yeah apple care is great, well I haven't had to take a laptop in, I get my MPB soon w00t.

Anyway, once I broke my iPod.. plugged it into a friends computer and it just blew up =\ ...

So I took it to the apple store, they don't even need proof of purchase, they just look at the serial number to see when warranty expires.. and they just gave me a brand new one which was great
