There's a tablet rumored to be coming out soon. The release was eventually estimated to be Q4 2009 but a bunch of "analysts" and those "familiar with the situation" convinced the public that it would be released Q1 2010.

The macbook Air is apples ultra-portable.... so if you don't like it then your gonna be out of luck with apple. As stated they "may" make a tablet to compete in the netbook market, but thats a big may. Now that the price has come down on the Air its actually a pretty decent machine, perhaps go and play with one for a bit it, it might change your mind in person.

p.s the air hasn't seen an update in a while, so its possible that it could get a refresh in Jan/Feb 10.

I enjoy reading all the speculation, and would be excited to see apple release something (tablet?) between the iPod Touch and the macbook air.

    "big size"

Most netbooks that people buy now are 10 - 11 inches, the macbook is 13 inches it is hardly much of a jump

The difference from 10" to 13" is far bigger than 13" to 15."

The Air is more of an ultra-thin than an ultra-portable. Many people would rather have a much thicker laptop (1 to 1.2") with a smaller footprint.

In cramped coach airline seats, the difference between 10" and 13.3" seems HUGE.
