Hello, i was wondering how i can change the "from" to a name instead of a email address. i added contacts to my address book but it still doesn't help. So basically instead of [email protected] i want mail to just say john. thanks in advance!

What you are trying to do is not a very good idea. If you set your return address to John, any time somebody hits reply it would bounce. Under Preferences->Accounts->Account Information you can set your return email address to anything you like. I suggest leaving it alone and use a signature that says John. You can find signatures under Preferences->Signatures. It's fine to have a signature that says -John, but a from address of john does not make any sense. Furthermore, an undeliverable from address like john may trigger spam filters to mark your email as spam.
