    I've read from time to time people are able to get a good deal on ebay on Apple care warranties for mac's. what's the scoop on this? Anyone know where to find them? I did a quick ebay search and didn't find much.

    I have a Macbook pro 15 (current gen)

    Be very careful if you go this route! There exist AppleCare serial generators that can let you start an AppleCare warranty and Apple can be slow about auditing them - so you might think you're fine then get summarily dropped three months later.

    I would only buy an AC warranty off of eBay if I got the receipt and everything with it - and then I'd check with Apple Support post-purchase and make a note of their A-OK - just in case it was bought with a stolen card.

    ok, well thats pretty much settles it... I just wait until I have a little more $$$ and buy it directly through apple... I'm not the risky type.

    You just need to be careful on eBay, but it shouldn't discourage you.

    I've done this x6 now, and always purchase it with three criteria:

    1. Must be the current serial version MBxxxx/x that is being sold by Amazon or Apple.

    2. Must be sealed box, not email or serial # only. This assures it has not from a number generator and has not been used/activated by someone else, but is just like you picked it up at a store yourself.

    3. Reputable seller with at least 100 feedback.

    Using these three criteria, you should be fine.

    It varies depending on when I've purchased over the past 4 years, and it's only been the same one twice. The good thing is that you've got a year to extend the warranty, so you can take your time in order to meet all 3 criteria.

    What is the deal lately with the pricing on eBay with Apple care.
    I have purchased many times in the past years and the price for the 13" mbp was around $105 to the door.
    Now it seems the prices have gone way up?
    I am in need as well.

    Purchase only sealed boxes of apple care!
