Everyone I know is holding off installing the 10.5.6 update waiting for Apple to come out with a fix for the glitches.
I can live with doing a combo update but the stories about wireless difficulties has me too frightened to proceed at this point.
What do people think?

Apple really doesn't fix a point update unless there is a widespread issue. I always manually download the full update and install it myself with using Software Update and I've never had problems with any Apple point update including 10.5.6. If you're going to wait, you'll probably have to wait for 10.5.7.
And what wireless difficulties are people complaining about? If it's just poor connection issues, then that seems to be a common complaint going back to when Leopard was first released. I don't know if 10.5.6 broke anything rather just didn't improve things.
For me, Leopard did make the wireless more finicky than Tiger, but 10.5.5 seems to have stabilized things. I think 10.5.5 updated the firmware on my Airport card, but 10.5.6 left it unchanged which is fine with me since it working as well as it ever did on Leopard although maybe not as good as Tiger. I have an older MacBook Pro with an Atheros WiFi card though. Maybe the problem is more common on newer laptops which switched to Broadcom cards. -
you are fooling yourself, I and the majority of users didn't have any issues with the update.
don't let yourself be so easily swayed by the internet. -
I haven't had any issues with it. Just installed it via Software Update and didn't encounter any glitches (besides the fact that my Mac was set to boot to Windows, not OS X by accident).

my laptop wont auto-sleep.
Ive tried resetting PRAM, holding power button, the ctl-com-r-p, .
I even did a complete reinstall, trying both combo, and just point updates.
No matter what, it will not autosleep. So all you that are not having issues good for you, but there are a lot of people with sleep issues now, believe it or not. -
My install worked fine in my aluminum Macbook in my sig. No glitches, bugs, or anything of the like. Just another update that worked flawlessly with me.
-
No issues with 10.5.6 on either of my machines.
-
same here; no issues with 10.5.6.
-
I haven't had any issues with 10.5.6 on my MacBook Pro, I ran the update through Software Update.
The thing is about forums is you'll see a lot of negative feedback and information regarding updates and products because the trend is people who need help and have issues with their computers will post on forums far more than those who haven't had any issues. -
I have an iMac 24" and RevB Macbook Air and installed 10.5.6 through Software Update on both of my Macs and I have had NO issues at all. Both Macs work perfectly and sleep perfectly after the update.

Installed on my home machines, and the 40 or so we have on our network at work - no problems.

internet, often = blown out of proportion, and always more negative.
-
No issues here
-
cheers ... -
Ok, so I did it last night using the Combo from Apple (rather than the Update).
No problems.
thanks -

hah. no problems here either. haven't noticed a difference from 10.5.5
looks like 1 / 15 people so far have had a problem with .6
its possible that their issue was a coincidence and isn't related to the software update. -
No issues on Unibody 2.53 MBP...
-
-
although, if I include all the people I know with the issue that leaves:
4 out of 60 machines, all non-unibodies!
any idea when Apple will fix 10.5.6?
