its been a week since i have bought my new macbook pro, and so far have come across no problems, and is running flawlessly.

i bought the MBP because i needed something to replace my 2 year old Sony SZ which couldnt really handle what i needed to do such as gaming and graphic design.

    the specs are
    2.5GHz intel processor T9300
2GB 667 mhz ram (then upped to 4GB later)
    250gb hdd 5400rpm
    nVidia geforce 8600GT 512mb
    CD/DVD superdrive
    15.4" 1440x900 display

i also bought the wireless mighty mouse and the remote

before i thought abot buying the macbook pro, i had other systems to choose from, such as the dell XPS m1730, the alienware m15x and the clevo m860tu.
the reason why i chose to go with mac in the end was because i felt that build quality was very important which the mac had and was far superior than that of the others. the looks were important and the mac had the rest beat and performance wise the mac may have come in last, however it was powerful enough for me.

after purchasing the system, i installed a copy of windows XP on it to run all the programs which i couldnt run in OS X, then installed iWork 08, some games including Bioshock, Supremem Commander and GRID and some graphics programs such as 3DS max 9, which all ran extremely smoothly and prolem free.

after some time, playing some games and doing some design, i realised that what i needed a lot of the time which the macbook pro didnt have was a number pad, so eventually i decided to get the apple wired keyboard which i really liked. i think both the keyboard on the MBP and the wired keyboard are extremely good to type on, in my opinion better that sonys and IBMs that i have come across in the past. i also like the light up keyboard in the MBP which was a nice touch. hoever you do get a slight flex probably around 1mm, but that doesnt bother me

as i tend to move around a lot, the laptop a choose could not have been extremely heavy which the MBP isnt. infact it feels only just a little heavier than my old sony SZ which was a 13.3" laptop. its also built very well, it feels sturdy, the materials used do not feel cheap like some parts of my old sony.

the display is extremely good. no dead pixels, its extremely bright no leaks and the colours are very good, extremely satisfied with the screen. however it tends to wobble a bit, but it doesnt really bother me.

i also tend to listen to a lot of music and i found the speakers on the system quite surprisingly good compared to my old computer. i mean its not brilliant but you cant expect much from laptop speakers

performance of the MBP is really good, runs most of the games on full spec very smoothly, cant tell you the exact FPS of the games cause i didnt check, but it does run very smoothly. but when playing games the laptop does tend to get rather toasty. it gets really hot on the bottom bits, and gets fairly warm around the top of the keyboard where the fans are located. but it never tends to get over hot to the point where its uncomfortable to use. during gaming when the fans kick in, they also tend to get quite loud but when just surfing the net or checking mail its always quiet.

so to conclude, im extremely happy with my purchase. im happy with nearly all the aspects of the laptop, the only cons i can think of is it getting slightly hot and only has USB ports. so i recommend it to everyone who wants a mid-sized laptop which packs good performance.

    pros:
    good performance
    amazing display
extremely thin and light for its class of performance
    good build quality
    above average speakers

    cons:
    gets hot
    not enough USB ports

sorry but i didnt really have much time to get photos maybe later on i will get some.

the MBP would be about the only mac-thing i'd buy.. (except possibly the ipod shuffle). the pro line really feels nice to work with it. if they'd make a 13.3" version i would really be in love (but still not get one as i have no need for it right now.. but it would be cool)

Really? I can't stand that thing. To each his/her own I guess. Mine's sitting in the closest collecting dust. The sad part is I paid $50 for mine while I could have got one on the internet for much less that I would have liked 10x better. The keyboards on the MacBooks Pros I've seen were somewhat mushy in my experience, especially the 17". Congrats on the machine nonetheless.

I have a 13" white Penryn Macbook. The other day, I was working with 12 windows at once and I went and dug up an external LCD monitor so I could have more stuff open at one time and still see it all. I suspect my next purchase will be a MBP. I would like having the backlit keyboard and the larger screen. Glad you like your machine. Nice review!

I believe you just right click with it. There are no 2 separate visible buttons, but I believe that there are 2 sensors. It is hard and people complain, but I believe that you just need to right click with that thing.

Does anyone know why apple isn't using the P8xxx/P9xxx CPUs in the MBP/MB? Seeing as the MBP is so thin it would make sense right? Using less power, cooler?
