Hi, I just bought my 1st ever macbook (macbook pro) about a week ago, at the Apple store. I'm still figuring everything out, so please help me with a few questions.

I recently downloaded yahoo messenger, using my college's wireless network. At first, there was a yahoo messenger icon at the bottom of my screen. It has since disappeared, and I don't know how to find it. Also, I know I can use Airport to connect to the college wireless network (using it now). How do I find the screen to connect to my dial-up service. I looked under the safari icon at top of the screen, but not sure how to find it. I know these questions must seem pretty basic, but I'm still new at all this. Also, I notice that if I have the screen open, but not typing anything, the screen dims in less than a minute. Is this standard? Is there a way I can change this or am I stuck with it this way? Thanks, Greg

Yup, Apple set the dimming of the screen as a default primarily to conserve power. You can change it by clicking on the apple icon on the top left -> system preferences -> energy saver and choose the settings you want.
