Just thought I'd put a poll up to see just how many of us have suffered from GPU-related problems. I haven't seen any specific numbers, but I also have not seen many people complaining about busted MBPs on this board.

This would at least give us a little insight on the failure rates of nVidia GPUs in MBPs, so please post how yours is doing.

I had the 128 Mb GeForce 8600 from August 07 till March 08 of this year and did not have any failures (Not sure if that care was included in your poll so if not deduct 1)

I think it was the 8400s and 8600s that were effected, so yes your vote counts, thanks :)

Im going to guess that trolls selected yes just because when people have a complaint they actually post the reasonings when they vote seeing the # is only at 3. and if I call it out maybe one of them will post what happened if it did in fact :p

As far as I know, the problem only occurs when you the gpu gets hot, for long amount of times.

So if you game often, eventually it might die out. But for normal usage, specifically no or little gaming, the end user will probably never have a failure.

But yea, mine died on me, got a logic board and im fine.

I voted 'no'. I don't really use any graphics intensive applications on my MBP so I haven't scorched the GPU (the CPU though is another matter :p). I am concerned though about it's life-span though...

Had mine for about 2 months now. and so far no problems, (that said it will fail for sure now) I tried a bootcamp with XPP and a few games, did not like it so removed it, but even then no issues.
I have not run much for graphics other than some Movies and hulu.
