its been long awaited, and honestly, its been a pain having to deal with mac alternatives. transmission is ok, and likely 2nd best, but not perfect and a little rough. azureus was fast but seriously heavily bloated.

    its about time.

I'll have to see about switching over this weekend. I've gotta find out how to transfer my current files over to it though.

I wish uTorrent had the upload/download speeds appearing in the dock like Transmission. Otherwise, so far so good!

I've been hearing a lot about uTorrent, but what exactly does it do that makes it so uber special?

Transmission seems to be great to me; drag and drop a torrent in and let it download, all while seeing the speed displayed in the dock.

I am personally very satisfied with transmission so far, compact and light weight.

i mean, don't get me wrong, transmission is good, and open source. its compact and lightweight, and fast. the only issue i really have with it is that sometimes its a little sluggish shutting down.

utorrent is not open source. however, its lighter weight than transmission, cleaner, faster.

i haven't actually downloaded it yet, but i will sometime tonight.

I've been trying utorrent out for ~2 days and its definitely faster than Transmission. Is there a way to find out my total session transfer like in Transmission? (campus bandwidth cap a day sucks :()

    Couple of questions.

Does it have encryption? and does it also have rss torrent capabilities?

No idea if it does, so I figured I'd ask here.

Personally I still use azureus, I dont really see it slowing down my computer whenever I run it, and it does everything I need it to do. But if utorrent can do these things, I might give it a try.

it has data encryption for outgoing

    no rss i think

and vuze is pretty slow to load / add torrents, i think its because its based on java.. so whenever i delete, or manage my torrents it takes some time to perform the task..

uTorrent is pretty clean and quick.. i like it so far.. this is the main application i missed from windows

yeah transmission is fine, I honestly have never really torrented much with my Mac, that is my PC's duting using uTorrent in Windows, but Transmission is incredibly incredibly slow to shut down for some reason?

incredibly slow, even on a very quick machine.

from what I have used they are still missing quite a few features in the OS X version but it looks like they have a strong base to work with now.

is it possible yet to choose the files you would like to download from a torrent in this BETA?

yes, but it would have to be after you started the download. you can go to files when you select the torrent in the window and choose priorities/dont download.

Interface looks kinda cool, and I'm sure as it matures people will make the switch to it. I'm still going to use transmission, though.

It takes some time because it needs to pause the torrents. If you pause them before quitting, it goes faster.

    :)

Try Frostwire, it's a lot better than limewire for Mac. I personally use it and love it.
