    google search > Yahoo search
    google mail > yahoo mail
    google stock > yahoo stock
gmail works on mac mail > yahoo wants money to work on mac mail

Yahoo mail plus service is the only way to legally access their pop mail server with a US account. You can't discuss illegal or unethical workarounds on the forum.

Switch to google mail if you want free pop.

you'd need to ask your college... this is not an issue with Mac Mail, but the mail servers your trying to connect to. As long as they do IMAP or POP you can use Apple Mail fine
