I have a MPB which I installed Windows XP pro with Bootcamp (obviously) thinking I would actually continue to use Windows. I originally installed without a product key for the trial period just to try it out. Before the 30 days ended, I purchased a copy of XP pro; entered the key, successfully activated it and I thought everything was fine.

Today I needed to boot into Windows and I got the lovely screen telling me to activate. It will no longer take my legit key and XP doesn't run. I know now why it's been over a month since I last used Windows on my MBP. Any ideas?

Call Micro$oft. They will activate it for you when you give them your valid key.

Considering it says "I needed to boot into windows" I'd say he'd need windows on it... especially if he paid for it. Just call MS.... I hear this happen all the time.

On another note: no one wants to run windows, but games force people to :p

This is a good opportunity to forget about windows altogether. Don't make the mistake of reactivating it.

To answer a previous question, I purchased an OEM version to get the product key. I'll just give them a call, no big deal. Just wondering if anyone any a clue as to why it was stop working, other than the fact that product activation is broke. As the reason for wanting to use Windows, games...

Although it may have taken your key if you have installed a retail version your oem key will not work. You probably have to install from your oem disc to use your oem key.
