Hi guys,
Is the X3100 graphics chip inside the new Penryn Macbooks capable of delivering a smooth GUI experience? I basically mean no choppy transitions getting in and an out of the dashboard, using Exposé and so.
Hope i made myself clear!

Yes. It's a very powerful integrated chip. You can even play some older games without much trouble.

Thanks! Not interested in games, but i really wanted the wanted the full OSX experience. I used to have a previous gen Imac with the ATI chip which of course had no issues with that. And my Penryn Blackbook is arriving on thursday so i wanted to make sure of that.
Thanks again! -
the gma 950 handles this stuff well. the x3100 even better
both do it fine. -
Absolutely! My MacBook with the GMA 950 does all the graphic animations of Mac OS X perfectly fine, so X3100 is nothing to worry about!

You may on occasion notice some slow down with transitions. As yet Apple cannot release a decent driver for the X3100. A lot of people currently get higher benchmarks with the 950.

I found that the leopard graphics update which was released recently has helped a lot. nothing to worry about with the new MBs.
X3100 capable of smooth dashboard, Exposé transitions?
