Is anyone else getting worse battery life in lion. Ive read alot of posts that there is a large difference in battery life from snow leopard to lion. usually i follow these posts and they are suggested to download an application that turns of flash but even still people who have done this already are still experiencing poor battery life.

I want to upgrade to lion but this issue really bothers me. I need to have extended battery life. I also must have photoshop cs 5.5 support. which i dont know if it has yet.

If you google this there are many people who do and don't have the issue. It could also be just the way that Lion estimates battery life so in reality you could be getting the same amount.

So should the battery be caliberated first before SMC reset or vice versa?

I am thinking that battery reset with the 5 hour window would drain power completely and then I can do the SMC reset. I have the unibody Mac, so I have to plug in the magsafe hence no issues of no power while doing SMC reset.

You would want to do the SMC reset and then the battery calibration.

On a side note, I had the same issue. So yesterday when I got my Optibay and my SSD I installed both and then did a CLEAN install of Lion and my battery is now what I got in SL minus 20 minutes or so since the Optibay drive is taking up a little more power than the superdrive.

As I noted in the other thread (did we really need two threads about the same thing?), a clean install of Lion made the battery indicator report times that were either the same as SL or even a little above. I was actually able to drain my MBP's battery yesterday and the battery life didn't actually change from when I had SL and then upgraded to Lion (still getting ~7 hours) but the battery indicator seems to be reporting more accurate times. For me, it was always reporting about 7 hours in SL after initially unplugging it and that is the same number Lion is reporting after a clean install. After upgrading, Lion would report 6.5 hours though the battery itself would last for around 7 anyway. So for me, nothing has changed other than the battery indicator reporting more accurate time.
