First off let me say i'm writing this post on my Macbook 2Ghz machine, 1Gb ram.... Secondly I've seen plenty of youtube videos on this matter but nothing specific enough for what i'm requesting... Okay here goes

My question is if I order ANOTHER macbook I guess a second one at 2.16 Ghz and 2Gb of ram will I see much better frame-rate performance. In wow currently on the macbook I get very bad frame-rates 9-15 in populated areas or in the expansions the Burning Crusade areas. Now all the videos I've seen except for 1 the players were in the original areas of warcraft which I do agree even on my 1 gb ram machine they are decent frames. But I want to know if the extra 1 Gb of ram will enhance performance for the expansions areas... If so I'd rather try to stay a mac user then as per my signature cancel that order.....

Anyway Thanks if anyone can post if they have a 2 gb ram machine and what frames they get in areas like Shattrah City, Outlands, or in battlegrounds with 20+ players on screen. Let me know if It's viable to stick with macbook... AND one last thing I know the macbook pro can handle it definetly BUT that's a 15" screen and heavier.. I just want small and the XPS M1330 provides both I just hope the mac can to!

The Macbook lacks graphics processing power, hence no matter how much ram, it will not be viable. If you want to play WoW smoothly (perhaps viable under minimum graphics settings), you need to find another option.

The Dell xps 1330 would handle WoW without much problems, though it will still lag when you first hit shattrah etc.

MBP is definitely larger in screen size, but it's not actually much heavier than the Macbook, I think one is 5.4ib while the other is 5.1 or so? (2.35kg vs 2.45kg). In fact, Macbook Pro is the lightest 15" laptop with that type of specs out there, it was the reason why I got it (I was looking at 14"'s, but realised the 15" mbp was same weight class).

I would definitely suggest the MBP if you don't mind the size, as it will run WoW with great graphics, and most importantly, it's a Mac :)

Ahh okay, Well if I could get 20-25 fps in shatt then I'd be content. I know the M1330 will do that just fine with the 128 mb card. If the macbook not viable I guess i'll just stick with the current ordered machine I'm getting.. I have a current XPS Gen 2 notebook model but I love it for gaming but problem is it's 19" and after getting this current macbook I can't go higher in size, It's perfect. Thanks for the update Rick!

Once you get your dell please post FPS in various locations using default settings and native resolution. Thanks.

i would try running the game in windows... you will increase your performance dramatically with xp instead of os x.

Why would the game work much faster in windows over running it in os x?

I also have a macbook, and run wow in osx but dual boot with windows xp

the mac os x open gl implementation is pretty bad (for gaming).

you can look up benchmarks to verify, but its definitely true.

...... Now I gotta cancel my sweet XPS machine... Teach dell for having delays... :) Guess Now I'm a Macbook and a Macbook Pro owner!... Or the wife would disagree cause I guess she gets the Macbook now hehe! Anyway I took expedited shipping Delivers by: Aug 29 - Sep 7.

I ordered a MBP yesterday specifically as a portable WoW player, 2.4 Ghz, 8600 GT 256, 7200 rpm. The only thing I haven't decided is wheather to run XP 64 or Vista 64, and what brand of 4GB ram to get...

The 1330 was my original choice, I wanted it very badly but i just couldent wait for that long delay... I think it was for the best. I would have never considered the mac until I realized how thin and light of a 15" it was.
