Do I really need to buy that $2 enabler file to let my brand new macbook pro achieve wireless N speeds?

I have a quick question about wireless N and the airport router compared to say a belkin N router.. Is there really that much of a difference in performance that makes the apple worth 100$ more?

Nopes...the speeds from the Airport Extreme and another N router are the same/very close. Unfortunately Airport Extreme is ...extremely...expensive compared to other routers. Linksys, D-Link, Belkin and others make great routers for a cheaper price.

I would say go for the dlink extreme N, has gigabit routing, and QoS for both wireless and wired connections... plus largest tested throughput so far... d-link have always made great products, this one is money! way cheaper than linksys equivelent and smaller, lighter, better :)
