It's fine, but it depends on what you want to do. There is still some support issues with Win 7.

Will performance suffer with vmware/parallel with the specs that the mbps are at now for playing games?

Yes.. gaming performance will suffer a lot in vmware and parallel.
Windows 7 is perfectly stable on my testing comptuers, though I've never tested on a Mac through bootcamp.

I am running Windows 7 on my Mac since February. It is perfectly stable, the resource consumption is drastically improved over Vista ... but do not install it now, wait for Windows 7 RC which will be released at the beginning of May.
The only issue that I found till now was with the media keys and brightness keys (they don't work as it should).

I've been running win 7 since the beta was released. Works great on my MBP. When RC 1 is released, will that be something that current beta users can update to via windows update?

In my humble opinion, you shouldn't touch it until it's closer to 'released'. Beta software can be dodgy and when it's an operating system who knows when it will do something strange. A release candidate (out in may?) might be pretty stable, so that could be a good one.

Nope.. you have to whipe your partition or "virtual partition" and reinstall the OS. 99.99999% of windows OS cannot be upgraded to newer version via windows update.

I have 4gb Ram and vista home premium runs flawlessly with it. Try vista and then when w7 gets released, switch to it. Simple like that.

Is there a way I can get my hands on a beta or the Win7 RC when it's released in May? I missed MS's "come get your beta" call back in.....Feb? Is there a way to get a hold of a copy of Win7 currently?

You can source it from torrent sites or other sources on the internet.
