Tried running Bootcamp to run Windows XP installation, and it did not go well.. partitioned the drive..and followed the rest of the basic steps.. then ran the Windows XP Professional CD... from there on it was nothing but trouble.. Windows(which only did a half install because programs are missing) seems to have taken over the computer completely.. can't even boot into OSX anymore with Leopard install discs..nothing works...heading to the apple store tomorrow to get things up and running unless someone can give me a quick fix... the Windows disc must not have had Service Pack 2 on it..its my only guess because it is a very old CD, and apparently that is a req. for this to go smooth??

Sorry for rambling.. any thoughts or someone else with a successful bootcamp run for Windows XP?

    Cheers!

Wow, that's really odd. I haven't had any issues like that, and my XP CD is very old too (pre-SP 2). I hope the Apple store can help, let us know! Or maybe someone else here knows more than I do...

Did you format the partition of the xp?
Windows cannot use the partiton what the bootcamp made...

Press option key at boot and you should see a boot menu!

The default 5GB will be small for the xp. After windows update you'll be below 1 GB free space...

when u start the machine, keep the "option" key pressed. You will get the option to boot in mac os.
then run boot camp and remove the windows partition and make a fresh partition for windows and try to install windows again.

Just a question, how many gb partition u had made for windows?

Installing as we speak.. question.. when I actually get through to the windows desktop, what do I need to do when I am actually there? Just a standard windows update? Then after that, the drivers on the mac OSX disc?

The first time you boot into windows I would suggest you install the bootcamp drivers first, then run windows update.

Like fez said, you need to install the bootcamp drivers.

It should be on the cd that you used to install bootcamp. Just put it in while in windows and then install it.

That seems to be the problem.. I run the install and it says my version of the installer is missing... so I am just stuck.. if I had another source to get all those drivers from so I could transfer them, that would solve where I am stuck. :(

Have you tried reinstalling Windows? Something might've gone a bit wrong with the install. If, after that, you still can't get it to work...I'm really not sure, honestly...

You have to do the following, you need Windows XP SP2. I just did a test installation over a MacBook Air, and with the Windows XP SP2 ISO the install was ok, with Windows XP SP1, you have to take in a DVD or USB Stick SP2 update to install before come go with BootCamp Drivers installation.

Yet another problem arises.. running the service pack 2 update, I get a message that says there is not enough disk space..requiring only 4 more "megabytes", when I clearly have 10gigs of space free so it won't continue with the update. Thoughts?
